How to Order Custom Sizes & Custom Crops
By Scott Thompson | Truckee Tahoe Photos
Every image in my gallery can be printed larger, smaller, or in a completely different shape than what you see on the product page. If you have an awkward wall, a staircase, a spot above a fireplace, or you just want a size no one else has — the built-in cropping tool lets you dial in an exact custom size, down to the inch. Here's exactly how to use it.
STEP 1
Choose Your Image & Medium
Open any image in the shop and pick a medium from the 1 Medium menu first — this matters, because it determines which sizes and crops are available. For large, one-of-a-kind statement pieces, I usually recommend High Gloss MetalPrint or a Canvas Gallery Wrap; both hold up beautifully at big custom sizes.
STEP 2
Open the Crop Tool
Next to the 2 Size dropdown, you'll see a small crop icon. Click it to open the cropping tool — this is where all the custom sizing happens.

The crop icon sits directly to the right of the Size selector.
STEP 3
Enter Your Custom Size
In the crop window, select Custom Size from the list on the left, then type your exact width and height (in inches) into the two fields. The preview on the right updates live, with drag handles so you can fine-tune exactly which part of the image gets used — use Rotate Selection Area if you'd like a vertical crop instead of horizontal. Your price updates automatically as you adjust the size. When it looks right, click Continue.
Select "Custom Size," then enter your exact width and height in inches.
Not sure it'll fit? Use our Live Preview tool to see any image on your actual wall, at true scale, right from your phone — before you commit to a size.
STEP 4
Choose Your Framing & Finish
Back on the product page, open 3 Styles to pick how it hangs. For most walls I recommend the 3/4" Inset Frame w/ Cleat — it's clean, sturdy, and hangs flush to the wall. A wire-hanging option is also available if you prefer that. If you'd like softened corners, check the 1/8" Rounded Corners box under Additional Options.
The Inset Frame w/ Cleat is a great default choice for custom-sized metal and canvas prints.
STEP 5
Review & Order
Your final price is calculated automatically based on the medium, size, and finish you selected. When everything looks right, click Add to Cart or Instant Checkout to complete your order.
A FEW THINGS I TELL EVERY CUSTOMER
Pro Tips for Large Custom Prints
|
Ship straight to its final home
Large custom prints arrive in a large box. Moving one to a second location afterward can be surprisingly difficult, especially with a smaller car — so please ship directly to the address where you'll actually be hanging it.

Standard sizes still frame easiest
If you might want to reframe down the road with an off-the-shelf frame, sticking close to a standard size (like 16x20 or 24x36) keeps that option open. Fully custom sizes are perfect when a specific wall is the goal.
|
Turnaround time
Custom prints are made to order, so plan for roughly one to two weeks between placing your order and delivery.
